I just wanted to make all of you aware of what our county commissioners want to do with all of our hard-earned money. They are pushing to build a new indoor riding arena/convention center and new offices at the Deseret Peak Complex (see "County wants to bond for Deseret Peak expansion plan," May 20). I feel that this community does not need to be spending millions of dollars on a complex that is not bringing in the revenue to sustain itself, when that money could be used elsewhere in the community. To build this project, they want to raise our sales tax so they can spend up to $3 million. With as bad as the economy is right now, we do not need to be funding this. I hope all of the citizens and taxpayers of Tooele County will strive to get more involved with the community. Ask questions of your leaders and please make them give you answers. Attend the County Commission meeting on Tuesday, May 27, at 3 p.m. at the County Courthouse room 310, and make your opinions be heard. Tell them that we do not want to fund this project. Also, let them know that from now on we want County Commission meetings to be held in the evening after work hours so that everyone can attend.
