Reynaldo (Ray) S. Romero

November 22nd, 1953 -June 1st 2008

Ray, our beloved Father, Grandpa, Son, Brother, and Friend passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008. Ray had a true love of life, he was a free spirit, and made a lasting and positive impression on anyone and everyone he met.

Ray was born to Tomas and Juanita Romero in Arroyo Seco, N.M. He moved as a child to Tooele with his family, where he lived until his passing. Ray lived a life of service. He completed two active Tours of Duty for the U .S. Air Force Reserves, retiring with an honorable discharge.

Since 1981, he has been a loved employee and friend at the Tooele Army Depot, where he worked as a Recreational & Sports Specialist. Ray was a member of the Utah High School Activities Association for over 20 years as a referee throughout the Salt Lake and Tooele valleys. He also worked as an assistant at the Tooele City Golf Course.

Ray had a love for sports and excelled at baseball, tennis, racquetball, and golf. He had a true passion for golf and competed in tournaments all over with his close friends.

He had a lifelong talent and love for working with others, organizing events, grilling and barbecuing, adventure seeking on his Road King, actively engaging with his grandson's, yet still being the ever elusive 'mystery man'. He was a true master of nicknames, funny catch-phrases, and could make people of any age laugh and love.

Ray is survived by his parents; his brothers Don, Rick, Leo, and Ronald; his former wife Gloria Romero, his companion Pheba Pannunzio; his three beautiful daughters Kim, Karrie, and Rachael; his two sons-in-law; and his four rowdy and fun-loving grandsons, Jackson, Samuel, Lawson, and Gavin.

We will all miss Ray's teasing, joking, friendship, and his love. We love you Raymanof (Dad).

A Viewing will be held Thursday, June 5, from 6-8 p.m. and from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, June 6 at the Tate Mortuary. Funeral Services follow Friday, June 6, at 1 p.m. at the Tate Mortuary in Tooele.
