Lauren Folta started a one-out first inning rally against the Bulldogs with a double that eventually led to nine runs. Eight of the nine players scored with Folta circling the base paths for a second time after another double.
Matison Snow pitched a no-hitter and added seven strike-outs to her defensive stats. Although Snow has had a few perfect games and no-hitters in her career, it's still something to be proud of.
"Perfect games are always a big deal," said Tooele coach Barry Pitt.
Whitnie Griffith added two singles and scored two runs in the wipeout game. Aly Jensen contributed a double and a single, while Kelsey Mendenhall had a double in the first inning and another in the fifth inning.
"Their intensity was so high," Pitt said. "They're on a mission. They're going to get together and go on a run."
That's what they did in the first inning scoring nine of their 12 runs. The other three came in the second inning from Mendenhall, Griffith and Jensen.
"It was good hitting and good pitching," Pitt said that kept his team fired up and ready to get another win.
The Lady Buffs were scheduled to play at Taylorsville Wednesday but the game was rained out and is tentatively being rescheduled for Saturday. After an inning and a half, before the lightning started, Tooele was up 1-0 against one of the toughest 5A teams. In order for a game to be called and a winner determined, four innings must have been played first.
Tooele plays at Mountain View today wrapping up region play before the tournament begins next Tuesday.
