"We need to make the decision this spring, as the architects are at the point where they are ready to include the school colors in the design of the school," said Kendall Topham, who has been appointed principal for Stansbury High School.
Suggestions from the public will be accepted through the Web site until Feb. 22. The poll offers several choices for colors and mascots, and accepts write-in suggestions as well.
After the poll is completed, a yet-to-be-appointed committee of students, a few school district employees and community council members from the feeder schools -- Grantsville and Clarke Johnsen junior high schools, and Tooele and Grantsville high schools -- will narrow the selection down to three to five choices, said Topham. Students who will be attending the new school will then be given the opportunity to vote and select the top choice.
"Ultimately, the top choice will be presented to the school board for final approval," said Topham.
Topham hopes the process can be completed by the end of March.
