A third suspect in the robbery and assault of a Tooele man in June pleaded guilty in 3rd District Court Tuesday.
Brandon Lashan Williams, 27, pleaded guilty to robbery, a second-degree felony and assault, a class A misdemeanor.
The victim, Luis Leyva, had arranged to buy drugs from Williams and Josh Lopez, 26, on June 29. The drug buy was a set up, but Williams and other suspects robbed Leyva rather than selling drugs to him.
Manuel Olmos Jr., a 23-year-old Tooele man, pleaded guilty last month to attempted robbery, a third-degree felony, in the case. He acted as an interpreter during the robbery and kidnapping.
According to court documents, the men beat Leyva with a lead pipe, put him in the trunk of his gold Volkswagen Passat, and drove the car to a field off of Droubay and Smelter roads where Leyva was left for dead.
Williams has two other cases pending. The first is a misdemeanor domestic violence assault case and the second is for misdemeanor DUI.
Williams will be sentenced in the robbery and assault case Feb. 5, 2008.
