A new well house that will serve the Deseret Peak Complex events center is now finished and expected to be up and running soon, according to Tooele County Engineer Jim Lawrence.

Lawrence said the well house, which is located just south of Grantsville, had been in the works for a number of years. It will be used to supply water primarily for the utilities of Deseret Peak Complex and for some of Grantsville City's water needs as well.

Lawrence said the well could now go into operation, but that there are a few things that need to be worked out beforehand.

"It's all built and ready to go, but right now we're just waiting on issues with power and the transferring of water rights," he said. "However, it is functioning and could be turned on today if we were ready. We first had the well drilled two-and-a-half years ago, and its main purpose will be to provide water for the Deseret Peak Complex."

Even though it will provide water for a large venue, Lawrence said the well house is an unimposing structure.

"It's kind of out in the middle of nowhere, and it's about the size of a good-sized storage shed," he said. "It's much like something you'd see in someone's backyard."
