Last year the fund helped provide Christmas for the Underwood family of Grantsville, who at the time were struggling financially due to a long period of unemployment. The day before Christmas, the utility company had shut off the family's power and they had barely scrounged up enough money to get it turned back on and weren't sure what kind of Christmas their four children would have.
Then Santa and Mrs. Claus dropped by to help present $4,100 in addition to a mix of fun and practical gifts to make the family's holiday brighter -- all courtesy of the Transcript-Bulletin and its readers and advertisers.
Nominations should include a thorough description of hardships faced by the family or individual, as well as an explanation of how the fund could benefit them this Christmas season.
