Timpview High celebrated its homecoming Friday night with football fireworks in the first half and a real fireworks display after the game as part of the festivities.
The defendng 4A champions had little trouble with the Buffaloes Friday night scoring six first-half touchdowns and another in the second half to register a 54-0 victory.
"To compete with these guys you have to come in and be the aggressor. Teams look at Timpview and see how big they are and don't hit them," said Tooele coach Sam Elliott.
After the game the coach told his team that he is looking for hitters and hustlers to finish out three region games for the Buffs.
Tooele tried to shorten the game by running the football and running the clock and in the process came away with some positive offensive plays during the night. It was nearly impossible for Tooele to defend against the speedy, talented Timpview first team. Two T-Bird players already have committed to play at BYU. Timpview's second team ended up playing the second half.
Three turnovers deep in the opponents' zone did not help out in making the score a bit tighter.
Timpview recovered one fumble in the Tooele end zone for a touchdown.
Tooele junior quarterback Chase Banks connected on a pair of long passes during the night. He hooked up with Nate Hyde on a 38-yard completion and Jordan Clemente on a 37 yard reception. For the night Banks completed five of nine for 84 yards with one interception.
Junior running back Jordan Biorge turned into a workhorse carrying the ball 17 times for 98 yards.
"Jordan's effort was great tonight," Elliott said.
The running back was still charging hard in the final quarter when he collected more than half of his yardage. His final run of the night went for 34 yards. Nic Gochis also helped out on the ground carrying seven times for 27 yards. Tooele's ground game had its moments and the Buffs tallied 131 yards rushing and 84 yards passing.
On the other side of the ball Timpview rolled wth 393 yards of total offense. The T-Birds tallied 249 yards rushing and 144 yards passing. In its three region games Timpview has scored 152 points while allowing 17 points.
Tooele mounted a strong drive to start the fourth quarter and it appeared the Buffs were on their way to points. Tooele drove from its own 30 to the Timpview 26, but came up short on a 42-yard field goal attempt.
Tooele travels to Payson Friday and hosts Provo on Oct. 5 for homecoming.
