Shauna Jean Smith Woolsey, age 55, of Bend, Ore., passed away Aug. 31, 2007, following a three and a half year battle with colon cancer.
She was born in Tooele, Jan. 29, 1952, to Paul W. Smith and Vivian N. Smith Follett. She graduated from Tooele High School in 1970. Shauna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which she held many positions and felt honored to do so.
She married Steve Britton of Salt Lake City, they later divorced. She married Gordon Woolsey on July 28, 1990 in Camp Sherman, Ore. The marriage was later solemnized in the Boise, Idaho LDS Temple on July 18, 1991. They were the love of each other's lives.
Shauna attended Salt Lake Community College in drafting and worked for Equi-Tech in Salt Lake in 1984. In 1986, she became head over drafting. In 1988, she became head over drafting in product support, warranty and spare parts; both inventory and sales. Shauna was heavily involved with the engineering department and was responsible for approval of all technical drawings. She moved to Bend, Ore., in 1990 and assumed head of product development at Cascade Manufacturing.
Shauna enjoyed gardening, camping, scrapbooking, sewing, crocheting, quilting, shopping and spending time with her family. Shauna is survived by her husband, Gordon of Bend, Ore.; two sons, Chad (Marisa) Woolsey of Bend, Ore. and Jerry (Kacee) Woolsey of Stansbury Park; daughters, Heidi (Justin) Wartena, Tami (Bret) Dalrymple, Brooke (Ryan) Thayer, all of Bend, Ore., Jodi Woolsey of West Valley City and Ali Fritzwater of Elko, Nev.; father-in-law, Hal Woolsey of Kearns; 12 grandchildren; and one sister, Cheryl (Nick) Brozovich of Tooele. She was proceeded in death by her father; mother; both brothers, Rob P. Smith and Jim R. Smith; and mother-in-law, Lasca Woolsey.
Funeral services were held at the LDS stake center in Bend. Burial was in Bend, Ore.
Shauna's wish is for everyone age 50 to get screened for colon cancer which is a silent killer. If one person's life can be saved then many families will not be heart broken.
