A new clothing store in downtown Tooele hopes to bring in a variety of customers not only to their store but to downtown as a whole.

Peggy Pillow has been sitting behind the counter of her new store Ragz 2 Richez for only three weeks and already enjoys the thrill of owning a retail business.

The clothing store, located at 60 S. Main St. in Tooele, sells a variety of designer and trendy clothes at discount prices.

"It's a fun store with designer clothes sold at 30 to 80 percent off what you pay in the department store," Pillow said.

Ragz 2 Richez sells a large variety of name-brand clothing such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Lucky, and Quicksilver for people of all ages, from infants to adult-plus sizes.

Pillow originally had the idea to open a retail store a few months ago and has been working hard at the venture ever since. Business has done well in the first few weeks and Pillow hopes it will continue.

Stores located on the south side of Tooele haven't faired well in the past. But Pillow did some research and decided this area needed a clothing store that offered designer clothes and discount prices.

"There's nothing like this in Tooele," Pillow added. "It's like Ross or TJ Max but a smaller-size store."

Pillow and her husband Doug, a pastor at Lighthouse Calvary Chapel, decided the Main Street location would be an excellent spot for their boutique. She hopes that because Ragz 2 Richez is different in that less expensive name-brand clothes are sold, more shoppers will come to her store.

"Other clothing stores appeal to a specific group, especially the younger group," Pillow said. "We're trying to have more variety."

Pillow is able to make such a dramatic price decrease because she buys directly from suppliers. Normally she will purchase shelf-pull and close-out items however returned items are not sold at Ragz 2 Richez -- all of the clothing is brand new.

For instance, the price on a Ralph Lauren Polo shirt is marked to sell at $34.50. But Pillow knocked her price down to $16.99.

"You can't beat the prices for these kinds of items," Pillow said.

Ragz 2 Richez is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The store is closed Sunday and Monday.
