Both Tooele County football teams are faced with a tough region test this Friday.

Tooele will travel to Orem to face top-ranked Timpview while Grantsville will host Region 11 favorite Logan. Both games are at 7 p.m.

After struggling with the passing attack of Springville last week Tooele doesn't get any breaks as Timpview will be one of the better offenses the Buffs will face this year.

"We are going to need to be more physical with their receivers to be able to stop their passing attack," Tooele coach Sam Elliot said.

For Tooele to win they will have to be aggressive with Timpview wideouts Mark Ercanbrack and Vaughan Greening who have 436 and 242 yards receiving respectively at mid-season.

Forcing Quinn Mecham into hurried decisions could help to cause errant throws for the Timpview quarterback who has 926 yards on the season already for the undefeated (5-0) Thunderbirds.

Unfortunately Tooele will be without two key offensive players, Trifon Gochis and Zac Clausing.

"Due to the situation Nic Gochis and Jordon Biorge will spend a lot of time in the backfield," Elliot added.

Logan (3-2), the only team in Region 11 with a winning record comes into Grantsville with a two-game losing streak.

Grantsville (1-4) will have its hands full with Logan quarterback Jeff Manning who averages 192 yards a game with wide receiver weapons like Mike Hlavaty who has 240 yards on the young season.

Alex Childs who has 309 rushing yards for the year so far will look to take advantage of any holes in the Logan defense.

Both Tooele and Grantsville have their work cut out for them but could play the spoiler as they enter both games as underdogs.
