Prep tennis

Grantsville, Tooele and Stansbury high school boys tennis teams will get together on Saturday to play for the first Tooele County Cup on the Grantsville High School courts. Matches start at 9 a.m.

Grantsville softball

The Grantsville High softball team rolled past Ben Lomond 14-3 Wednesday in Ogden. Grantsville led 6-3 after four innings and exploded with eight runs in the top of the fifth. Karlin Moody was the winning pitcher in the game and Grantsville pounded out 16 hits including home runs from Chelsea Dalton and Natalie Peterson. Grantsville hosts Juan Diego today and Judge Memorial on Friday.

Stansbury softball

The Stansbury High softball team blasted Highland 18-1 on Tuesday by collecting 12 hits including home runs from Katelyn Robinson and Lindsay Guymon. The Stallions play at Woods Cross today and host West Jordan on Friday.

Tooele baseball

Tooele High lost to Davis 10-0 on Tuesday to drop their record to 1-7 on the season. The Buffaloes open region play today when they host Stansbury High.

Region 6 soccer

Tooele and Stansbury high school soccer teams lost games on Wednesday and both teams dropped to 0-3 in region standings. The Buffaloes gave up three goals in the first half but did not allow a goal in the second half to lose 3-0 to Olympus. The Stallions were in a tight battle with Highland losing 1-0. Stansbury hosts East on Friday while Tooele hosts Woods Cross. Tooele plays at Stansbury on Tuesday, April 6.

Jiu-Jitsu classes

The Tooele High School wrestling team will sponsor kids and teens Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes as a fundraiser to send wrestlers to Fargo, N.D. to participate in the Greco and freestyle nationals this summer. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for boys and girls ages 6-18 will be offered in Tooele. Classes will be held twice per week for 10 weeks starting on April 21 and April 23. Cost is $100 for kids 6-12 years old and $125 for teens 13 -18 years of age. Siblings receive a $25 discount. Sign-ups will be held in the Tooele High School wrestling room, located in the far west end of the school. Call Jared at 435-882-4249 for more information.

Shriners hospital walk/run

A 5K and 1K walk and run to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children will be held in Tooele on Saturday, March 27 at 8 a.m. starting at Elton Park. Registration for the 5K is $20 and for the 1K is $8. All participants receive a race T-shirt, refreshments and entry for the prize drawing. Register at the Tooele Wal-Mart service desk or online at tooelerun.info. THS soccer alumni game

Tooele High School soccer team is going to hold an alumni soccer game on April 3 at 6 p.m. Any Tooele alumni soccer player that is going to be in town on that date is invited to come out and participate. Any alumni player wishing to participate contact Rick Smith at (435)830-9290, for further details. The public is invited to come out and watch the older players try to school the younger guys. A nominal fee will be charged to spectators to help the soccer team with expenses.

ISA Spring Fever

The ISA Spring Fever men’s and coed slow-pitch softball tournament will be taking place at Deseret Peak Complex on March 27. The tournament will use Independent Softball Association rules, three home runs a game and there will be a three game guarantee. Tournament costs $200 for a team and $35 if not registered with the ISA. First, second and third place will receive individual rewards. For further questions contact Aaron Perkins at (435)841-7770.

THS softball clinic

Tooele High School’s 2nd annual softball clinic will be held April 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clinic participants will receive instruction on hitting, pitching, fielding and base running. Cost for this year’s clinic is $40. Lunch, snacks and a T-shirt for all clinic participants. Deadline for applications is April 8.
