Shriners hospital walk/run
A 5K and 1K walk and run to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children will be held in Tooele on Saturday, March 27 at 8 a.m. starting at Elton Park. Registration for the 5K is $20 and for the 1K is $8. Reef tour
The Wasatch Marine Aquarium Society is hosting an aquarium tour on Saturday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the homes of society members. This is for people who would like to see a living coral reef and learn about the animals housed in them, and how to setup and care for their own. Dog and owner volunteers
The Children’s Justice Center is in need of dogs and their owners to join the Healing Paws Program. Dogs and owners must pass an initial evaluation, the dogs will be required to pass obedience testing, followed by testing at the CJC. Ultimately, dogs must be able to stay quiet in an interview for 30 minutes, taking direction from interviewer and child, out of the presence of their owner. Financial fitness challenge

Stallionette Mini Drill Camp will be held from April 5-7 from 5-7 p.m. in the small gym at SHS for girls ages 5 and up. Cost is $30 and $25 for multiple family members. Girls will perform in End of Year Show on April 9 at 7 p.m. Sign up at the SHS finance office. Last day to sign up is March 25. Stallionette parent meeting for future members on March 25 at 6 p.m. in the dance studio at SHS. Stallionette End of Year Show will be held on April 9 at 7 p.m. in the SHS theater. THS 9th grade registration
Tooele High School counselors will be conducting registration for eighth-grade students on March 22 at Tooele Junior High School. Students will meet in the library during their history classes. Registration materials have been mailed home to allow students and parents to review the registration process. Students are reminded to bring all registration information with them on March 22. Parents are encouraged to attend. A meeting will be held immediately after school in the library for any students and/or parents wishing to know more about the honors program at THS. ‘Welcome to the Herd’ night
“Welcome to the Herd” night will be held Wednesday, March 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Tooele High School. It is a night for all incoming freshmen to tour the high school, visit counselors about registration concerns and turn in completed registration forms. Students can also meet students, coaches and advisers of most of the schools’ clubs, organizations and sports teams. Those attending can get information about tryouts for teams and clubs and learn about summer camps and workouts for many of the teams. THS would like to encourage all freshmen to try to join at least two clubs/teams next year to become involved in school, which the school believes helps a student succeed in high school. Kindergarten registration for fall 2010 enrollment is currently being held at all elementary schools through the end of May 2010. Each child entering kindergarten must have a prescreening assessment. This assessment will be scheduled by your school prior to the end of this school year. It is important to have your child registered to receive an assessment time. To be eligible to enter kindergarten, your child must be at least 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2010. Prevention summits
The final Valley Mental Health summit, addressing issues around underage drinking, marijuana use, and prescription drug use, and how to prevent the health and impairment problems that happen as a result of use will be held in Grantsville on Tuesday, April 6 from 5-7 p.m. at Grantsville High School, keynote speaker Steve James. SHS promenade practice
Promenade practice for juniors will run March 23-25 then April 6-8, 13-15 from 7-9 p.m. in the gym. Promenade is couples choice not girls choice this year. Prom is held this year on Friday, April 16 at the Capitol Rotunda.

No grade make up sessions are held Monday through Thursday at 2:20 p.m. in either room 139 or 143, for third term grades only. Prepay $3 per session in the finance office. It takes two sessions to clear one absence.
Attention SHS seniors
There will be a senior meeting Wednesday, March 24 at 1:45 p.m. to discuss graduation concerns. Senior no grade make up session will be held on May 8 from 8 a.m. to noon. Deadline for eligibility for graduation is May 14. Anyone with uncleared absences, no grades, failing grades, or unpaid fines will not be allowed to walk during graduation. Graduation for seniors will be held Wednesday, June 2 at 7 p.m. at the Huntsman Center at the U of U.
THS soccer alumni game
Tooele High School soccer team is going to hold an alumni soccer game on April 3. Any Tooele alumni soccer player that is going to be in town on that date is invited to come out and participate. A nominal fee will be charged to spectators to help the soccer team with expenses.

Annual ladies shooting class
A ladies shooting class will be held on Saturdays from March 20 to April 24 at 10 a.m. at the Magna Gun Club. Whether you’ve never touched a shotgun or you’ve been shooting for awhile and would like to sharpen your shooting skills, this is the clinic for you. Come and enjoy expert instruction in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Get to know other women who are also learning to shoot. Open auditions for the LaForge Encore Theatre Company production of “Annie” are coming up. Master Gardener meeting
The next monthly meeting of the Tooele County Master Gardeners is Wednesday, March 24 at the Extension Service Bldg, 151 N. Main, Tooele. The business meeting for members will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a program open to the general public. This month Diane Sagers, known for her excellent articles on food and gardening, will speak on dehydrating food grown in your garden. She will talk about what plants are better for dehydration then give pointers on the dehydration process. This can give you a head start on your selection of plants for the coming season and another way of storing your food once grown. Everyone is invited to attend.
Master Gardener Arbor Day
The Master Gardeners are in the process of planning their annual Arbor Day tree planting ceremony and need information about the mayors they plan to honor. They have been planting several trees each Arbor Day in honor of the past mayors of Tooele City. This year they would like to honor three more mayors. These honorees will be Henry Smith, 1926-1927, J.D. DeLaMare, 1932-1933, and J. Alex Bevan, 1934-1935. The ceremony will take place on Friday, April 23. The camp will be held at the Tooele Teen Center, 102 N. 7th Street from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and at the Dow James Building from 2:30-5:30 p.m. We provide transportation to the open reception site.

Historical society
Tooele County Historical Society would like to ask members of the community if they have any personal histories, photographs or histories of the Tooele County area that they would like to share with our organization. VA benefits
Dino Genco from the American Legion, Salt Lake City will be in your area to assist individual veterans in understanding and applying for VA benefits. This is a free service to all veterans. Dino will be at the Department of Workforce Services center 305 N Main Street, Wednesday, April 7 from 12-1 p.m. Please bring the following documents so that we may better serve you: DD form 214, marriage/divorce papers, birth/adoption/death certificates and children’s social security numbers. Program openings
Tooele County Aging has openings in an alternative, income-based program designed to help seniors remain independent. CNAs help keep them in their homes safely, provide personal care, do house keeping and run errands. If interested please contact Jolene Shields at 843-4104 or 4105.
Tooele seniors
The center can be reached at 843-4110 and is for the enjoyment of all senior citizens 55 years and up. Friday night entertainment at 5:30 p.m.: March 19 Lisa Chevalier; March 26 Jennie Steele. Friday night dancing from 6-8 p.m.: March 19 Ned Garcia; March 26 Dave Bickmore. The Grantsville Senior Citizen’s Center can be reached at 884-3446. Health clinic: blood pressure every Thursday at 11 a.m. The March birthday dinner will be held March 26 at 4 p.m. with entertainment from the Shawnie and Curtis Nash and family.
Senior Circle
Join the Circle! Age 50 and over. Cost $15 single, $27 couple per year. To make reservations for activities, call 843-3690. Senior exercise class meets Mondays, 2 p.m. at MWMC. Stretching, toning, chair exercises, etc. Free for members. Water aerobics meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., cost is $2 per session for members. Baby Cupboard Baby Shower - Saturday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at MWMC, bring diapers or baby wipes to donate to Tooele County Baby Cupboard and a baby picture of yourself. RSVP!

Addiction recovery meeting
LDS Family Services addiction recovery meetings every Tuesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the LDS chapel on 1030 S. 900 West, in the Relief Society room, Tooele. Enter on the west side of the church. The handicap entrance is on the south side of the church. This meeting addresses all addictions or character weaknesses. No children please.
The Healing Hearts
The Healing Hearts is a free group for families who have ever lost a child, delivered a stillborn or had a miscarriage. Meet with other families that have suffered a loss. We are parents living through the grief process together. Come and share experiences, coping skills and comfort methods. Family members and close friends (support) are welcome. LDS porn addiction program
An LDS Pornography Addiction Recovery Support group meeting will be held every Friday evening starting at 7:30 p.m. in the High Council room of the Stansbury Stake Center, 417 E. Benson Road, Stansbury Park. This meeting is specifically related to recovery from pornography addition. Entrance on the southwest of building. No referral needed. There is no charge to attend.
