A yard sale in Tooele this weekend aims to help a local family with 18 children, almost all of whom have special needs.

Tattwic Tides, a Stansbury Park organization, is holding the yard sale as a fund-raiser for the Quaid family of Tooele.

“The Quaids need an H-Vac system which isn’t in their budget. All of the money raised goes to them and the heating and cooling system for their house,” said Karen Beals, owner of Pine Canyon Quarter Horses and an organizer of the event.

Of the Quaids’’ 18 children, all but one have special needs and were adopted by the family. Because of the illnesses of the children, minor problems such as a bad heating and cooling system, can cause weekly doctor’s visits. Tattwic Tides is trying to raise enough money to purchase a new system for the family — hopefully cutting down on constant medical bills through several fundraisers.

“We are beyond grateful for their help,” said Sue Quaid. “This is one of those things that literally will worry you until you’re sick.”

On Saturday the group will be selling various items such as dressers, desks, clothing, and various pieces of home decor at the yard sale, which will be held at 710 N. Main St., across from Albertson’s.

Tattwic Tides is asking for public donations. For more information on where and when to drop off items, contact Karen Beals at (801)647-2183.
