Cosetta (Cosy) Elizabeth Wright Castagno passed away July 19, 2009, at her home in Vernon, Utah. Cosy was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Vernon to Charles and Elizabeth Hillman Wright. She married Pierre (Shorty) Castagno on Oct. 29, 1943. They lived on the Faust ranch raising livestock and children. In 1956 they sold the ranch, moved to Vernon and bought the Silver Sage Service. Cosy love the west desert, poetry, local history and genealogy. Her poetry earned her several awards and has been published. Because of her knowledge of history and genealogy, her help was often sought out. She tirelessly researched to identify the unmarked graves located near the family ranch below Vernon. This feat was acknowledged by then-LDS President Faust, who was a speaker at the dedication of the monument and the cemetery. Cosy was mayor of Vernon for several years and was a driving force in getting the firehouse built. She is preceded in death by her husband Pierre, her daughter Joetta Jones, three sisters, three brothers and four stepsons. Cosy is survived by daughter Linda (Darrell) Rainey, St. George; Pete (Judy) Castagno, Vernon; Roseann McPhaul, San Diego, Calif.; David (Marilyn) Castagno, Tooele; John (Maryann) Castagno, Las Vegas, Nev.; brother Darrell Wright, Salt Lake City; brother Vern Wright of Stockton; sister Mary (Steve) Nelson, Salt Lake City; and her 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be in the Vernon Ward Saturday, July 25 at 11 a.m. Viewing is 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 24 at Tate Mortuary in Tooele and 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Vernon Ward.

Miss Cosy was one of the finest women I have ever known. Having been fortunate enough to have known her since I was a young child and later married to my husband by her while she was Mayor of Vernon, I will never forget the joy she brought to my life and to all who knew her. She was truly a beautiful woman with a beautiful heart, and I am a better woman for having known her. She will be fondly remembered in my heart, and in the hearts of my family forever.
