Name: Kristine Maxfield

From: San Diego, Calif.

To: Stansbury Park

Kristine Maxfield, 27, and her husband Derek, 28, moved to Stansbury Park from San Diego, Calif., two months ago with their son Charlie, 4, and their daughter Candy, 2.

"I wanted to see how it was to be a lawyer in a different state, and Utah seemed like the perfect place to try," she said.

The Maxfields have taken a different approach to raising their children, all because Kristine enjoys her career as much as her family. Derek is a stay-at-home dad, while Kristine is a lawyer in Salt Lake.

"We wanted to try something new, so we decided to go all the way new; a new house, a new city and a new approach to raising a family," she said.

Maxfield has enjoyed the move and is excited about getting involved in the community.

"My favorite thing about Stansbury is the cute houses. They just give the community a family feel, and I am really excited to raise my children here," she said.

Although she loves the community, Maxfield said it's been hard to explain their way of life to some of the people they have met.

"I know that people aren't used to the idea of the mother being the one to bring home the bacon, but it works for Derek and me," she said.

Although the Maxfields have had to get used to some people having a problem with their way of life, Maxfield said that it would have happened anywhere they moved.

"We don't care what people think, but we sure love that people are finally getting used to the idea," she said.
