Name: Shelly Winters

From: Montgomery, Ala.

To: Lake Point

Shelly Winters and her family spent plenty of summer days cooped up in their air-conditioned house in Montgomery, Ala. The family did venture outdoors a few times during the season to visit the community pool or weed the garden, but Winters said the heat and humidity were nearly too much to handle.

"I felt like I couldn't breathe because it was so muggy," she said. "But perhaps I'm saying that because after moving to Lake Point a few months ago and experiencing a Utah summer I'm in heaven."

Winters moved from Alabama in March when her husband was transferred from Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery to Hill Air Force Base. They looked at homes closer to the base, but when Winters learned that one of her high school friends lived in Stansbury Park she started looking at homes in Tooele County.

"I begged and pleaded with my husband to move out here, and that was before I had even seen anything," laughed Winters. "We compromised by moving to Lake Point so he didn't have to travel so far. It's a lot cooler up here than what we're used to and the air is dry. The people here have been so welcoming and we're only 20 minutes from the big city. I think we made a great choice."
