What on earth has happened to the Transcript-Bulletin? It is not the newspaper it once was. I read with interest the letter to the editor concerning the sports page (“What about Dugway?” Feb. 26). The reader was disappointed there was not coverage of all of the county sports, and I agree. We need A.T. Roberts, Charlie Roberts, and Nick Drake. They were superb reporters who covered every sporting event in the county. I still can’t believe that Drake retired. Since his departure, the sports section has gone downhill. For the last few months, I have been so infuriated over the coverage for Tooele High School. After the state wrestling tournament, the article was mostly about a particular Tooele wrestler that was kicked out of the region tournament and therefore did not qualify for state. The inexperienced writer pointed out that had that particular wrestler been at state, Tooele would have done much better. Oh, please, don’t give me that. He degraded himself and the team. Needless to say, I could write about many examples of poor coverage and poorly-written sports articles. You are cheating the people of the county that once liked to read your paper.
