GHS Wall of Fame
Grantsville High School is now accepting nominations for its GHS Wall of Fame. Nominees must have finished playing high school sports at least three years ago, or retired from coaching at GHS a minimum of three years ago. Nominations should be sent to Grantsville High School athletic director Pat Ciervo, 155 Cowboy Dr., Grantsville, UT 84029 or emailed to pciervo@tooelesd.org.
Mule Deer Foundation
The Tooele County Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation will hold its Second Annual Banquet on May 17. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. The night will include live auctions and raffling of prizes. Children will also be able to bid for prizes. The foundation was awarded $7,400 in chapter awards which will go toward projects in the county. The foundation is looking for volunteers to help complete various work projects using these funds. Coaches will be honored
Five former coaches will be honored by the Utah Sports Hall of Fame Foundation (USHFF) during the annual Distinguished High School Coaches Award banquet. Marie Bone, Thom Budge, Jim Dickson, Mike Hall and Ron Rushton will receive their awards May 13 at the South Towne Exposition Center. Inaddition, former college coach Lori Richards will be recognized as a coach of merit. For dinner reservations ($35), send checks to USHFF secretary Scott Mayne, 10182 S. Basketball without Borders
Basketball without Borders 2008 will take place for the first time in New Delhi, India and will return to Istanbul, Turkey and Johannesburg, South Africa, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced Wednesday. The NBA and FIBA's global basketball development and community outreach program unites elite young basketball players to promote the sport and encourages positive social change in the areas of education, health and wellness in local communities. Utah Jazz players Kyle Korver (New Delhi) and Mehmet Okur (Istanbul) are each scheduled to participate in Basketball without Borders events this summer.

David Archuleta from Murray, a finalist on American Idol, will perform the national anthem prior to the Utah Jazz playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers this Friday night at EnergySolutions Arena. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
American Le Mans
Next stop for the American Le Mans series is Miller Motorsports Park May 16-18. After preliminary races the first two days, the final race is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, May 18. This year the American Le Mans race will take place on the 3.06-mile, 15-turn outer course. Its configuration could produce the fastest speeds ever seen in the American Le Mans series, according to series' officials. The 2 hours, 45 minute race can be seen live on the SPEED channel from 1-3 p.m. "The views at Miller Motorsports Park are amazing and it's truly a great racing weekend," said Bryan Herta of Andretti Green Racing. The track boasts a 3,500-foot front-stretch, allowing prototypes to reach 200 mph.
