Phyllis Herrera, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away at Elko Memorial Hospital in the arms of her loving family after a short illness.

She was born in Murray on Nov. 30, 1928, to Leo M. Elieson and Jane Beers Elieson. Phyllis was the second of four daughters, Irene Hobbs of Mideletron, Texas, Leola Hebert of Tooele and Emma Kelsch of Riverton. Phyllis attended Tooele County schools and graduated in May of 1948.

After graduating high school she moved to Texas where she resided for several years before moving to Elko in 1959. She met and married Vic Herrera May 12, 1960. A few years later Phyllis and Vic owned and operated the Depot Hotel and Cloud Nine Bar.

She was known for her excellent talent in sewing, crocheting, and arts and crafts. Many of her treasures she made were given to friends and family. She also donated many of her workings to the Catholic Ladies Auxiliary bazaars.

She joined the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Joseph Parish. Phyllis was a faithful member of the Ladies Alter Society and assisted them in many callings. In earlier years she also was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

Phyllis met her dear friend and companion Lou Arano through the church and spent many wonderful hours attending church gatherings, going to dinners and just sitting around sharing each other's company.

Phyllis was very loving mother to her daughter Pam and her son Vic Allen. She also cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her survivors include her children; daughter, Pam McKnight (Michael) of Las Vegas, Nev.; son, Vic Allen Herrera of Elko, Nev.; and sisters, Irene Hobbs of Mideletron, Texas, Leola Hebert of Tooele, and Emma Kelsch of Riverton.

Phyllis has five grandchildren, Marc Bottari (Kathy), John Bottari (Jamie), Angie Bottari (Aaron) all of Spring Creek, Nev., and Mitchell Herrera and Bryan Herrera of Elko, Nev. She also has five great-grandchildren, Cierra, Tyra, Giovanni, Allan and Casey.

Rosary will be recited on April 10, at 6:30 p.m., at Burns Funeral Home. Services will be held on April 11, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burns Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
