Tooele
Free patriotic concert
Everyone is invited to celebrate Independence Day by attending a free patriotic concert by the Tooele County Choral Society and Orchestra on Monday, July 2 at 7 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 1784 N. Aaron Drive.
Tooele County Fair
Premium Exhibit Books can be picked up at the Tooele County Extension office or at the Tooele County Commission office. Home Arts and 4H entries for the Tooele County Fair will be accepted July 30 and 31 at the Deseret Peak Complex. Please pick up a book for details, rules and entry forms. Kiwanis 5K Freedom Run
The Tooele July 4 race begins at 8:30 a.m. near the LDS church at 777 East Skyline Dr. Runners are urged to sign up in advance at Century 21 McAffee Realtors, 768 N. Main, Prudential Real Estate, 205 N. Main or Macey's Food and Drug, 972 N. Main St. Registration forms may be sent through e-mail to perkar@wfrmls.com. After June 24 fees are $18 (with T-shirt) and $10 (no T-shirt) and day of the race. Registration on July 4 will be at the LDS church on Skyline beginning at 7 a.m. Volunteers to help with registration and finish line are needed. Marathon runners
The July 4 Kiwanis 5K Freedom Run has been given one guaranteed entry to the St. George Marathon to be give away the day of the race. If you are interested in running in the St. George Marathon and need an entry, please contact Karen Perry at 435-830-7846. Net income from the race will go toward the Kiwanis Club's youth projects. Anyone wishing to contribute may contact Karen or any Kiwanis Club member. Checks may be mailed to Tooele Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box 1122, Tooele, Utah.
Bands and booths wanted
The fourth annual ThankQ Tooele County event (July 27 and 28) is looking for bands to perform and local vendors to set up booths to sell arts, crafts, etc. Only 15 booth areas and a few slots for bands are available so reserve your spot now. CJC golf tournament
The Children's Justice Center Friend's Board present their 8th annual charity golf tournament at the Tooele City Golf Course, 1255 E. Vine St. on June 29. Check in at 7 a.m. and tee off at 8 a.m. Cost is $75 per person or $300 for a team of four. Call 843-1161 for more information.
Miss Tooele County pageant

Weekly concerts/performances at the Veteran's Memorial Park, corner of Main St. and Vine St., Join us for Fridays on Vine, every Friday evening starting at 7 p.m., now until Sept. 7. An excellent way to spend your Friday evening. June 29 Dave Bickmore's band will be performing.
Chamber breakfast
The Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual 4th of July breakfast on Wednesday, July 4 from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park. Adults $5, children 10 and under $3, children 2 and under free. You may purchase tickets before the event at the chamber office 201 North Main, Upstairs Key Bank.

Grantsville
Fourth of July charity
Grantsville City's 4th of July is going to be even more amazing than previous years. As always this event is completely a charity event with all game and ride and carshow funds raised going to Tooele County charities. The parade will start at the Grantsville Cemetery at 11 a.m., ending at the Cherry Street park with the car show and carnival starting and live music starting at the end of the parade. We will have four live bands and more than eight kids rides with games and the counties largest fire works show at 9:30 p.m. Don't miss the counties largest event. Miss Grantsville pageant
Miss Grantsville City Scholarship Pageant will take place June 30 at 7 p.m. at Grantsville High School. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. Admittance price is: $4 per person and $2 for senior citizens. Grist Mill
Fun at the Mill
Come learn about the pioneers on July 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn how to square dance and play the games the pioneer children played. Children of all ages can join in the activities and games. Children ages are invited to participate in free competitions of jacks, marbles or jumping rope. Free hot dogs and punch will be served. Free yoga classes for ladies and young women every Tuesday and Thursday. The place is the church on 1000 North and Broadway. We start at 9 a.m. For information please call Connie Rockwell at 882-6667. Take an hour to stretch, build muscle, body conditioning and relax. Kick boxing classes are offered also, they start at 8 a.m.
Aerobics classes

Singles night

Food pantry
The First Baptist Church in Tooele is offering a clothing closet and emergency food pantry to help meet the needs of our community. Anyone with clothing needs, adults and children, are welcome. The food pantry is available for emergency needs. Hours of operation are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. We are located at 580 S. Main, Tooele. For more info call 882-2048.

Free plant pest help
The Master Gardener organization is offering free plant pest help on Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. throughout the growing season. Bring samples to the USU Extension office at 151 N. Main St., or call during those hours for help with gardening problems.
Adult education
Get your high school diploma this year. All classes required for a high school diploma, adult basic education, GED preparation, word processing, drivers' education and English as a second language are available. Register now to graduate -- just $35 per semester. Located at 76 S. 1000 W., Can be reached at 833-1994. Adult Education classes are for students 18 and over. Summer hours Tuesday and Wednesday 5 to 9 p.m.
English as a second language
ESOL conversational classes are held Monday and Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. ESOL students may come anytime the center is open for Individualized study with our software programs and textbooks. The book fee is $25 per semester.

Moose Lodge golf scramble

Special Olympic team
Our Special Olympic team, the Tooele County Giants, just finished competing at the state finals in track and field. We are not starting to train for our fall games. We are playing bocce ball. This is an easy game for the athletes to learn. Our practices are on Saturdays at 10 a.m. at the GHS track field. We are always looking for more teammates. Anyone age 8 and older with an intellectual disability and/or autism may participate in Special Olympics. If you are interested in joining our team, please call Cheri Gunderson at 884-3007.
Action 4 Autism
Action 4 Autism meets the first Tuesday of each month. July's meeting will be held on July 3 at 7 p.m. at the Tooele First Assembly of God building located at 127 North 7th Street in Tooele. The Tooele Diabetes Support Group will not be holding a meeting in July because of the holiday. Our August meeting will be about our feet.
Alzheimer's support group
Open to anyone caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia (memory issues). Learn about this disease. Get ideas. Share ideas. Discuss experiences with others. Next meeting Tuesday, July 10 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Cottage Glen Activities Center, 1892 Aaron Dr. (across from Tooele hospital). Refreshments will be provided. Eagles Friday night dinners
The Eagles Auxiliary is offering something new on Friday Night Dinners, Rib Eye Steak. This Friday, Kevin and Barbara will be barbecuing the steaks. The regular menu will be the same. Come out and support the Aerie and Auxiliary.
Cub scout roundtable
Cub Scout Leader Roundtable is Thursday, July 5, 7:30 p.m. at the Tooele Wigwam. The wigwam is located south on Main on the left, just past Gofer's and below and behind the Baptist church. Look for the worms sign and turn left. Follow the road and you end up at the wigwam. We will discuss the theme, A Century of Scouting. Join us for a fun, evening of training and ideas for your pack or den. All Cub Scout leaders, committee members, and sponsoring organizations are invited to attend.
