THS Community Council
Tooele High School Community Council will be meeting Thursday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m., in the Tooele High library. All students, parents and interested community members are invited to attend. Elections will be held to add new members to the board.
Tooele City Arts Council seeks instructors
The Tooele City Arts Council is currently seeking instructors to teach community classes for both adults and children. Tooele City Arts Council grant money
The Tooele City Arts Council is now accepting applications from nonprofit organizations that further the mission of the arts council. Money will be awarded for the 2008 year. Applications must be received by Friday, Nov. 2, at 5 p.m. Interested parties can get a copy of the application at Tooele City Hall, 90 N. Main St., or at www.tooelecity.org.
Friday Nights on Vine
The last performance of Friday Nights on Vine will feature The Ahlstrom Western Band on Aug. 31, at 7 p.m., at Veteran's Memorial Park, at the corner of Main Street and Vine Street.
CAP Head Start registration

Cub Scout Leader Roundtable
Den and pack leaders join us for fun and fellowship while learning stunts, games, crafts, ceremonies, songs and skits related to the "Down on the Farm" theme and Webelos activity badges for the following month. There are also opportunities for sharing ideas and activities with leaders from other packs. We will also have information on upcoming district activities. Cub Scout Roundtable is Thursday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m., at the TJHS.
Harvest Days
The farmers' market, craft fair and flea market at the Benson Grist Mill is held every Saturday through Oct. 13, 2007, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shop for unique gifts and home decor. Anyone who grows produce, makes hand crafted items or has yard sale items is welcome to bring these goods to sell. There is no vendor or booth charge. Grantsville
Raddie L. Butler Memorial dedication
Raddie Butler served the students, staff, faculty and Grantsville community for over 22 years as a janitor and head custodian of Grantsville Middle School and Grantsville Junior High School. Butler was killed in an automobile accident while on school business on Nov. 3, 2005. Friends and family are welcome to attend the Raddie L. Butler Memorial dedication on Sept. 6, 2007, from 5:30 to 6 p.m.

Lake Point Fall Festival
Lake Point Fall Festival will be held on Sept. 7 and 8. Friday: Children's one mile race and 5K run/walk at 6 p.m., family movie at the park at 7:30 p.m. Saturday: Parade at 10 a.m., children's activities and classic car show in parking lot at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also, activities south of town park include a Show What You Grow contest at 1 p.m., hamburgers and hot dogs from 1 to 3 p.m., and barrel and flag racing and pole bending competitions at 3:30 p.m. All age groups. '77 THS reunion
The search is on for Tooele High School class of 1977 classmates. We need to know where to send an invite for the 30-year reunion. '67 THS reunion
The Tooele High School class of 1967 will hold its 40-year reunion activities over Labor Day weekend. A gathering is planned for Friday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m., in the pavilion at the first flat in Settlement Canyon. It will be a casual evening of visiting and listening to oldies music. There is no need to pre-register your attendance for this activity. A golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1, at 8 a.m., at the Oquirrh Hills Golf Course. This will be an 18 hole shotgun scramble. A dinner is planned for Saturday at the Eagle's Nest, Tooele Army Depot, at 5:30 p.m. It will include dinner, dancing, a remembrance of the deceased classmates and a salute to those classmates who served in the military. Grantsville Junior High School Back to School Night will be on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007. The schedule includes: 5:30 to 6 p.m. dedication of the Raddie L. Mountain of Faith Lutheran Church, a part of the ELCA, will begin their fall season on Sunday, Sept. 9. Books for sale
Tooele Friends of the Library Bookstore will be selling hardback books for 50 cents, a good selection of large print books and many children's books for 25 cents through August. Hours are Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday 1 to 7 p.m.
September library programs
The Tooele City Library will present Back to School Bingo and Responsible Pet Owners for September programs. Take your bingo sheet and find the special stickers around the library to cover your items and win. Being a responsible pet owner is harder than you think. On Sept. 19, 2007, at 3 p.m. learn the secrets of being a responsible pet owner from Debra Bush from the Tooele City Animal Shelter.

Utah Hunter Education courses
Class #6: Sept. 4, 6, 11, 12, 13 Range 15. All classes are from 6 to 9 p.m. and law requires students to attend all sessions. All students must get a hunter education voucher from a hunting license agent/vendor for $10 prior to attending class. Give the voucher to the instructor at the first class. The voucher includes costs of class and a small game license, validated upon completion. Classes are at the Tooele County Health Building, 151 N. Main St. For more information call Gene at 882-4767.
Adult Education
Get your high school diploma this year! All classes required for a high school diploma, adult basic education, GED preparation, word processing, drivers' education and English as a second language are available. Register now to graduate -- just $35 per semester. The location is 76 S. 1000 West. The contact number is 833-1994. Adult education classes are for students 18 and over. Summer hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
Take GED

Gain computer skills
The Tooele Adult Education Center is offering a beginning class in Microsoft Word XP, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Windows. The class will be on Tuesday and Wednesday nights for five weeks beginning Tuesday, Sept. 11, ending Oct. 10, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Tooele Adult Education Center, 76 S. 1000 West. Adults currently enrolled at the education center pay $30. Community participants pay $60. Seniors 55 and over pay $55. Call 833-1994 for more information. Preregistration required.
Adults learn to drive
A driver education course for adults 18 and over will begin Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Tooele Adult Education Center. The class includes 18 hours of classroom instruction and 12 hours of driving and observation. Register from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $175 (current students receive a $70 discount).
English as a second language
ESOL conversational classes are held Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. ESOL students may come anytime the center is open for individualized study with our software programs and textbooks. Registration is $35.00 per semester.

Eagles Steak Night
The Eagles Auxiliary is offering something new on Friday Night Dinners, rib eye steak. The regular menu will be the same. Come out and support the Aerie and Auxiliary.
MOMS Club
The MOMS Club of Tooele Valley is hosting its monthly MOMS social and planning meeting on Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. This event will be held at the Stansbury Park clubhouse located at 1 Country Club Drive, in Stansbury Park. This event is open to all moms in the Tooele Valley area. Sherril Nelson from Farmers Insurance will be speaking to us about MILK Digital ID Software. This software stores children's information in the event that they are missing and can be made available quickly to the authorities. A separate children's activity and snack will be available during the speaker and planning portion of this event. Tooele Diabetic Support Group

Tooele Homemakers
Tooele Homemakers will have their first meeting of the year Monday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m., at the Tooele County Health Department and extension building, 151 N. Main St., Tooele. We will be hearing from all the members on what they did this summer as well as having a slide show of our meetings and activities last year. We will have a potluck lunch. Everyone is asked to bring their favorite dish whether it is a main dish, salad or a dessert. Club dues for the year are $3 per year and will be collected at this meeting. Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group
Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group is open to anyone caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia (memory issues). Learn about this disease, get ideas, share ideas and discuss experiences with others. Youth ATV courses
Utah State Parks and Recreation offers Know Before You Go! all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and off-highway motorcycle (OHM) education courses in Tooele County at the Deseret Peak Complex on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. Students must preregister, and may take an ATV, OHM, or a combination class. According to course instructors, Wes and Susan Underwood, youth age eight to 16 are required by state law to take a safety class prior to operating all types of ATVs on public lands or trails. Wrangler Division Junior High Rodeo
Attention junior high school cowboys and cowgirls: It's time to rodeo! The Wrangler Division Junior High School Rodeo season is about to begin. The first two rodeos are on Oct. 12 and 13, in Nephi. Entries and membership applications for this rodeo are due by Monday, Sept. 10. There will also be two qualifier rodeos in February in St. George and two qualifier rodeos in March in Tooele. The state finals will be held in June in Heber City and the nationals will be in July in Gallup, N.M. Exercise -- Sittercise classes meet Mondays at 2 p.m. in the MWMC classrooms. Free to members. This class provides chair and sitting exercises that promote flexibility and toning. Body Instincts meets Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at Pinnacle Therapy (29 S. Main St.). Free to members. This class provides toning and stretching and a little cardio workout. Hinges and Twingeswater aerobics class meets Tuesday and Thursdays at 11 a.m., at the Pratt Aquatic Center. Cost is $2.50 for members, $20 for a 10-pass punch card and $3.50 for non-members.
The Diabetes Support Group will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m., at the health department.
