Little Miss Tooele County Pageant

The Tooele County Fair Little Miss Pageant is on Saturday, July 28 at 10 a.m. Categories are: Tiny Miss ages 3 to 6, Little Miss ages 7 to 9 and Junior Miss ages 10 to 12. Every contestant will receive a prize. Queen will receive a tiara, trophy and sash. Registration fee is $20 and the deadline is Friday, July 20. New AARP driving classes

Mountain West Medical Center's Senior Circle, is sponsoring the AARP driving course on Friday, July 20 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. each day. Both days required to receive a certificate, which may decrease your auto insurance costs for three years. $10 payable at the first class is all it costs. Bands and booths wanted

The fourth annual ThankQ Tooele County event (July 27 and 28) is looking for bands to perform and local vendors to set up booths to sell arts, crafts, etc. Only 15 booth areas and a few slots for bands are available so reserve your spot now. Miss Tooele County pageant

TCSD board member vacancy

The Tooele County Board of Education will hire an interim appointment to serve the year and a half remaining on the term. Any candidate must maintain a primary residence within the Tooele County School District Precinct 4 and remain a qualified voter. A letter of interest should be sent to Gary Gowans, Board President, Tooele County School District Office at 92 S Lodestone Way, Tooele, Utah. The deadline for the letter is July 25 no later than 4 p.m. Interviews will be held on July 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the district office.

Police grant award

The Tooele City Police Department is eligible for a $15,949 BJA JAG Grant Award. The Chief of Police intends to apply for and spend these funds to expand the forensic and investigative services capability of the police department. Star party

There will be a public star party at the Stansbury Park Observatory Complex on Saturday, July 21. The Grantsville Music Company, GMC for short, will put on the Concerts in the Park at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20 at the Veterans' Memorial Park in Tooele (Main and Vine Streets). Records to be destroyed

On July 31, the Tooele County School District will be destroying special education records for special Ed students who attended school in Tooele County and were born prior to 1980. Former special education students, who are 26 years of age or older, who would like their records, should call the school district at 833-1900 ext. 1120.

THS Class of 1962

New student registration

New student registration for elementary school students will be held on Aug. 13 and 14. All new students and parents should plan for their registration at that time. Copies of birth certificates and immunization records are needed. Various other forms will be filled out at the school.
