Name: Janet Haight

From: Livonia, Mich.

To: Tooele

Janet Haight, 43, along with her husband, Denton, 46, and children, 6-year-old Gavin, 13-year-old Emily, 16-year-old Natalie, 18-year-old Adam and 22-year-old Nathaniel, moved to Tooele from Livonia, Mich., last summer.

"We really, really love Tooele so far," Haight said. "For as long as we've been here it's been wonderful."

Haight grew up in Concord, Calif., and graduated from Ygnacio Valley High School. She met her husband while attending Brigham Young University before moving to Michigan for six years, Thailand for two years, Missouri for two years, Michigan again for six years and then to Tooele. Haight's husband works as an engineer for the Dennis Group in Salt lake City while she stays home and her children attend school in the valley.

"He got the job offer, we had family here, and we really wanted a change of pace," she said. "So far it's been great."

For Haight, the wonders of Tooele County are endless. "There just isn't enough of it," she said. "We love the mountains, the view of the lake, all the friendly people, the great schools, the bike trails and places to jog. It's simply wonderful out here."

One of the biggest conveniences that Haight has found has been the college in town. "We love having the Utah State Extension here," Haight said. "It just makes it so nice for the kids to study out here."

But Haight said she does miss the green colors of Michigan. "We really loved the green in Michigan. It was beautiful when it was green," she said. "Utah is very beautiful as well. Every place has their own kind of beauty and we just miss the green sometimes."

So far, the Haights have no complaints about their new hometown and hope to make it a long stay. "We never thought we'd enjoy it as much as we do, but since we've been here we've loved everything," she said. "We have no intentions to leave and plan on being here a long time."
