Name: Scott Skousen

From: Cypress, Calif.

To: Stansbury Park

Scott Skousen, 22, moved to Tooele County from Cypress, Calif., in early May.

"I lived in Cypress my whole life, in the same house, so living someplace else is quite different," said Skousen.

Skousen graduated from Cypress High School in 2003 and attended Brigham Young University before serving an LDS mission. When Skousen was offered an internship to work as a manual writer for Wireless Beehive in Tooele, he moved into his cousin's home in Stansbury Park.

Skousen said he enjoys the tranquility Tooele County can give.

"This is a really nice place to just relax and not really think of anything," said Skousen. "It's not nearly as crowded as Cypress, and it has a fresh, new feel to it. It's nice."

Skousen said that his stay in the county has helped him to meet new people.

"I really like all the friends and all the things I've experienced," he said. "It's been cool."

Though friends are the highlight of the county for Skousen, he wishes he could have brought his friends from back home here when he moved.

"If I miss anything about Cypress it is the people," he said. "That and always having a beach close by."

Skousen plans on finishing his engineering degree at BYU and moving back to his hometown, a goal that he doesn't completely blame on Tooele County.

"I do miss my hometown, and I'm not much against Tooele as I am Utah in general," he said. "I would just rather make a living where I'm used to instead of dealing with the differences and oddities here, but it has been great so far."
