Grantsville High School's new basketball coach will not need much time learning about potential players at the school. Shane Heath already has spent four years coaching junior varsity and freshmen basketball teams for the Cowboys.

In their final home game, Tooele didn't play like a team looking for their first Region 7 win. Scoring two first-half goals and then adding another two in the second half, Tooele buried Payson 4-0.

Buffs pummel Provo in five innings, 12-0

The Tooele High School softball team is ready to prove they are a dynasty team. The Lady Buffs lost to Springville at home last Thursday 4-1 for their only loss in region play. On Tuesday, they made a statement that they are back on track as region leaders by pummeling Provo 12-0 in a five-inning game.

Playing with their playoff lives on the line Tooele faced the ace of a very tough Springville team on Thursday. Brian Whatcott pitched a near perfect game against the Buffs with 11 strikeouts but Tooele scrapped their way to a much needed 3-2 win over the Red Devils.

With the Region 7 track meet just a day away, the Tooele High School track and field team used Saturday's BYU Invitational as a good way to warm up for the region meet that will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at Timpview High School. Tooele took 22 athletes to the invitational that had the competition of a state meet, except there were athletes from Wyoming, Nevada and Idaho.

With Logan gift-wrapping three runs for Grantsville in the fifth and then earning another in the following inning, the Cowboys looked to complete the rally in the seventh, only one run down. However, the Grizzlies poured in seven insurance runs to shut the door and leave with a 15-7 victory.

With the score tied after five complete innings Tooele looked in prime position to steal a game away at Orem. However, the Tigers were able to sneak in a run in the bottom of the sixth to earn a 5-4 victory.
