Tina Rene Evans   Print  E-mail Story
4/15/2008

Tina Rene Evans, age 42, was taken from us on August 30, 2006, by a cold blooded man whom she trusted. The sentencing of John Bevan was April 1, too long in coming, but is now over. Finally our family can begin the healing process which is so emotional and stressful you become sort of numb and not yourself. That being said we would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the ones that helped us through this tragedy.

Holly Johnson, our victim's advocate, the first person who helped us understand the legal process. She kept us informed, made sure we understood and got us involved in domestic violence activities which have been beneficial to us. She made being in the courtroom as bearable as possible. Thank you Holly.

We would like to thank Judge Mark S. Kouris, for his compassion and understanding especially for Tina's daughter, Ashley's need to have B.A.C.A. stand beside her while she, shaken, read her statement at the sentencing. He made every attempt to spare the family the long drawn out ordeal it was. Thank you, Judge.

Finally, B.A.C.A., Bikers Against Child Abuse, how do we begin to thank this wonderful organization of angels? They kept my sweet Ashley protected every step of the way. Their continued support is greatly loved and appreciated.

One does not think about them, or that they would ever need them until something tragic like this. I know they wish they were not necessary, however kids coming from abuse are greatly blessed to have them. They deserve as much support from the community as possible. Perhaps something as simple as a hand shake or thank you. B.A.C.A. Members have the courage to do what most of us do not. They stand up to the guilty and give kids the courage to do the same. Thank you B.A.C.A.

Although the media coverage of this event is appreciated, we only wish that each article had included a picture of Tina. She was the victim. She needs to be the face we see. She needs to be the one we honor and remember. We miss you MOM. You are forever in our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who helped us through this horrific time. Tina's children and family.
