At a court of honor for Troop 444, held on March 29, 2008, Nicholas van Oene was awarded the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout rank. Nicholas is 14 years old and has worked hard for this advancement. He is the son of Lt. Col. Marc and Carla van Oene of Fruit Heights. The court of honor was scheduled to coincide with his father's return for two weeks leave. Lt. Col. van Oene is presently serving with the U.S. forces in Iraq. Nicholas is the great-grandson of Islay Baril of Vancouver, British Columbia, and is the grandson of Germaine Baril of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Roger and Marene Redmond of Tooele . His parents, grandparents and many uncles and aunts wish him much success. Our hats go off to Nicholas. Congratulations.
