Winter Tree Festival
The Winter Tree Festival will be held Dec. 10-14, at Tooele High School in the commons area. The festival will be open to the public from 5 to 8:30 p.m. each night.
Courthouse closure
Tooele County Courthouse will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Dec. 26.
NAMI
NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) will be holding a meeting on Dec. 14, from 2 to 3 p.m., at All-Star Lanes, 1111 N. 200 West, Tooele. Traveling art exhibit
"The Man Who Made America," consisting of portions of the New York Historical Society's traveling exhibit on Alexander Hamilton, will be at GJHS on Dec. 12-14. We would like the community to come join with students the night of Dec. 13, to view this exhibit. This event will co-inside with our parent/teacher conference, which will begin at 4 p.m. and end at 7 p.m., in the forum. All interested persons can view the exhibit and a brief video at their convenience.

Library coloring contest
The Tooele City Library coloring contest has begun. Pick up your coloring sheet at the library. Colored sheets must be returned no later than Dec. 12 to be eligible for the contest. Each age group will win a prize! Winners will be announced Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m., during our story time and notified by phone.

The Tooele City Library is having a very special story time on Dec. 19, at 11 a.m., with a very special storyteller.

Kids movie
Join us for a special kids movie "It's a Charlie Brown Christmas" will be shown Dec. 18, at 4 p.m., in the community room. Sign-up and get your ticket today. Tickets will be available for each movie at the check-out desk of the Tooele City Library. There is no charge for tickets. If you don't have a ticket, show up anyway.

The Tooele City Library is offering a basic Internet class on Friday, Dec. 14, at 5:30 p.m. Basic knowledge of the keyboard and mouse is required. The class sizes are limited to two people. For more information or to register, please call the library at 882-2182.

Adult Education
Get your high school diploma this year! All classes required for a high school diploma, adult basic education, GED preparation, word processing, driver's education and English as a second language are available. Register now to graduate -- just $35 per semester. The center is located at 76 S. 1000 West, and can be reached at 833-1994. Adult education classes are for students 18 and over.
English as a second language
ESOL conversational classes are held Monday and Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. ESOL students may come anytime, the center is open for individualized study with our software programs and textbooks. Registration is $35 per semester.

Food pantry
The First Baptist Church in Tooele is offering a clothing closet and emergency food pantry to help meet the needs of our community. Anyone with clothing needs -- adults and children -- are welcome. The food pantry is available for emergency needs. Hours of operation are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. We are located at 580 S. Main St., Tooele. For more info call 882-2048.
Blankets needed
There are over 500 homeless here in Tooele, and many of these sleep outside in the cold. Help the needy by donating a blanket at the Church of Christ, 430 W. Utah Ave. Call morning for best results at 882-4642. Will pick up.

Adult religion class
The Tooele Utah Stake is sponsoring an adult religion class with the topic: "Lectures on Faith, Page II." Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning on Jan. 2 through April 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Tooele LDS Institute Building, 65 S. 200 West. The instructor is David A. Christensen, former instructor for the University of Utah Institute. Registration will be held on the evening of the first class, and the cost is $22.50 for the course or $2.50 per class.

Christmas concert
The Tooele City Arts Council is sponsoring T Minus 5 on Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. at the THS auditorium. The cost for this Christmas concert is only one can of food per ticket! Cans of food can be exchanged for tickets at Tooele City Hall reception area. Get your tickets early because they will go fast. All donated food will benefit our local food bank.
Christmas concert
Tooele Sign Pride presents the 2007 Christmas Deaf Concert on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. at THS in the auditorium. Admission is one can of food and $1 per person. Proceeds will be donated to the food bank and to the Nikki Ginnett Benefit Fund. Everyone is invited to share in the evening.
THS Christmas concert
The annual THS music department's Christmas concert will held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m., at THS in the auditorium. The concert will feature THS bands, orchestra and choirs. Be sure to attend this free event.

The TJHS orchestra and bands will perform in a seasonal music concert on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m., at THS in the auditorium. Come enjoy this free concert with the whole family.
Fine Arts Exhibit
Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake -- Tooele and Grantsville club sites would like to invite you to attend the National Boys and Girls Club Fine Arts Exhibit on Friday, Dec. 14, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Dow James building, 438 W. 400 North. A community Christmas play will be held Friday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m., at Lake View church, Pine Canyon. Please bring a canned food item to donate to the Tooele Food Bank.

GHS Alumni Basketball Tourney
On Dec. 26, 27 and 28, the GHS basketball team will be putting on their Annual Alumni Basketball Tournament. This tournament is for all GHS alumnus and all are encouraged to participate. The cost will be $15 per player, and $1 per day per spectator. All proceeds will be given to the GHS basketball program. 'Beyond Our Grief'
Valley Mental Health's "Beyond Our Grief" group is for those who have suffered a loss in their life and are in need of support to assist them in coping. Grief can often be worse during the holidays. Eagles steak night
The Eagles steak nights will be on Friday, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21. There will be no steak night on Dec. 28, however, they will be back on Jan. 4, 2008.
NARFE meeting
The Tooele Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet Friday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m., at the Pioneer Museum, 35 E.
